Roadmap

Where EPOCH is going.

EPOCH is built in phases. The first three-and-a-half are running daily. The next four define what cross-domain reasoning, multi-agent orchestration, and multi-modal intelligence look like on owned hardware.

Where we are right now.

EPOCH's foundation phases are in production today. Aria runs on Phase 3.5 — three-tier intelligence with 132 MCP tools across 22 servers, deployed since March 2026.

Phase 1 · Foundation

✅ Complete · Dec 2025. Gibson Memory (PostgreSQL on /srv), HA entity sync, voice assistant area-based control.

Phase 2 · Pattern Collection

✅ Complete · Jan 2026. State-history capture, person zone tracking, 5,900+ records and growing.

Phase 2.5 · Communication Layer

✅ Complete · Feb 2026. Apprise + presence-aware SMS gateway. Foundation for autonomous agent notifications.

Phase 3 · Memory Systems

✅ Mostly complete · Q1 2026. Per-fact memory, persona table, semantic dedup, supersession chains.

Phase 3.5 · Aria Voice Assistant

✅ Production · Feb–Mar 2026. Three-tier LLM, three-interface delivery (Reachy, AudioSocket, Pi5), 132 MCP tools.

Phase 6 · Refinement

🔄 Partially deployed · Ongoing. Telemetry subsystem live (33-column table, daily analyzer, A–F grading). Feedback loops and A/B testing pending.

🔜 Planned · Q1 2026

Phase 2.6 · Matrix Messaging

Self-hosted Matrix Synapse server on a dedicated Pi 5. Element app on iOS/Android for family access. Rooms for alerts, home updates, security events, and agent-to-agent communication. No cloud dependency.

📅 Future · Q2 2026

Phase 4 · Cross-Domain Reasoning

Calendar event analysis, presence prediction (ETA from location + calendar), proactive anticipation across domains.

Example use cases:

  • "You have a flight at 6 AM. Should I disable morning alarm notifications?"
  • "Traffic is heavy. ETA for Shiela is 30 minutes late. Delay dinner prep?"
  • "Rain forecast during your commute. Suggest umbrella reminder?"
📅 Future · Q3 2026

Phase 5 · Multi-Agent Orchestration

Aria gets siblings. Three named agents, each with a focused role, all coordinating through EPOCH.

Sentinel — Pattern Detection

Watches Gibson Memory for anomalies. Detects unusual patterns (power usage, door activity, presence). Alerts on security concerns. "Motion detected at 2 AM — unusual for weekday."

Oracle — Predictions

Proactive suggestions from historical data. Anticipates needs before explicit requests. "You usually start laundry on Sunday. Detergent is low."

Warden — Presence & Security

Tracks who is where in the home. Manages security state (arm/disarm, lock doors). Coordinates with presence sensors. "Last person left. Arming security, locking doors."

📅 Future · Q4 2026

Phase 7 · Multi-Modal Intelligence

NPU-enabled vision processing. Security-camera anomaly detection, gesture recognition with visual confirmation, cross-modal embeddings (audio + vision + text), real-time scene understanding. Context-aware presence — not just "home" but "cooking in kitchen."

Coming to Kickstarter

Aria Standalone — first consumer product.

A self-contained Aria — Pi 5 + Hailo-8 + ReSpeaker XVF3800 + optional gimbal — for households that want voice AI without running a home server. Voice and vision stay on-device. Target retail $500–$700.

Reference unit (aria-1) is operational. Phase 4 of the standalone build is complete (systemd, pre-action dispatch, timer tick). Phase 5 (telemetry, watchdog, speaker ID) is in progress. Kickstarter campaign begins once Phase 5 is locked.

In design

Personal Knowledge Base.

Retrieval system for personal documents — zoning law, property records, equipment manuals, warranties. Pattern-A MCP server with pgvector and on-device embeddings. Tier-aware access: private docs only on the trusted endpoint, public docs reachable from anywhere.

How releases happen.

Phase work lands when it lands — phases gate on the deliverables, not the calendar. Public-facing milestones (Aria Standalone Kickstarter, EPOCH Cam, etc.) ship as separate repositories on the Salient Concepts GitHub org. No marketing rollout — code, docs, and a public commit log.
